Fortinet (News - Alert), a provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, announced the launch of two new consolidated security appliances designed to be deployed in the mid-range enterprise market that includes medium-size businesses, enterprise customers, application service providers (ASPs), and software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) providers.
The new FortiGate-600C and FortiGate-1000C appliances are cost-effective, and offer highly resilient security that is capable of protecting critical assets from a wide variety of threats, company officials said.
"We continue to hear from midrange customers and prospects about pushing the price/performance envelope for consolidated security solutions that are broad in scope, easy to deploy and can be centrally managed," said Michael Xie, co-founder, CTO and vice president of engineering at Fortinet, in a statement.
"The introduction of the FortiGate-600C and FortiGate-1000C appliances addresses each of these needs head on,” Xie added. “No other products in this class can match the combined performance and consolidated security services of these new appliances."
Powered by the FortiASIC Network Processor (News - Alert), the FortiGate-600C appliance delivers security throughput at switching speeds. The appliance deployment solution also provides sixteen 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports, allowing security administrators and IT managers a wide array of deployment options.
Like the FortiGate-600C appliance deployment solution, FortiGate-1000C also utilizes FortiASIC processors that use an intelligent content scanning engine to accelerate security and network services. In addition, the FortiGate-1000C provides dual AC power supplies, two 10Gb SFP+ ports, twelve 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports, eight shared 10/100/1000 RF-45 ports,1G SFP and two-pair bypass-protected 10/100/1000 ports
Both appliances are designed to protect personally identifiable information (PII), including credit card data as part of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI (News - Alert) DSS) and patient data as part of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, from accidental leakage or theft.
Fortinet recently also launched the FortiGate-300C, a new appliance in its multi-threat security appliance product family. Together, this suite of appliance deployment solutions delivers the power and flexibility needed for deployments in mid and large-size enterprises.
Both FortiGate-600C and FortiGate-1000C feature the FortiOS 4.3 security operating system and deliver a broad suite of services including advanced application control, firewall security, anti-virus and anti-spyware, virtual private network technology, SSL-encrypted traffic inspection, data leakage prevention, Web filtering, and an integrated wireless controller.
