Bloxx, a provider of security appliance deployment solutions for Web content filtering and e-mail security, is now offering virtual appliance versions of its Bloxx Web Filter and Bloxx Secure Web Gateway (News - Alert) in North America.

The Bloxx Web Filter and Bloxx Secure Web Gateway virtual appliances for VMware vSphere are now available worldwide in a range of configurations. offering support to networks with around 100 to 10,000 connected devices.

Bloxx virtual appliances can also support larger appliance deployment virtual scenarios through clustering and load-balancing. And they deliver the same functionality and protection offered by Bloxx’s current hardware appliances, making them ideal for organizations moving their security infrastructure to a virtual environment, the company said.

The solution also offers gateway level security, keeping networks and users secure with enterprise-grade Sophos anti-malware protection in the Bloxx Secure Web Gateway. The SSL Filtering function of the new virtual appliance deployment solution reduces the growing risks of HTTPs traffic.

“These new virtualized products, built on Bloxx’s appliance-based Web filtering and security foundation, deliver all the ease-of-deployment and upgrade benefits offered by virtualization,” said Eamonn Doyle, president of Bloxx, in a statement. “We now offer our next-generation Web content filtering, with real-time content analysis and a categorization engine via our Tru-View

Technology, either as a hardware appliance or a virtual appliance.”

With its ability for real-time content filtering and classification of Web pages using a next-generation dynamic filter, the new Bloxx virtual appliances analyzes Web content in real-time rather than relying on out-of-date lists of known URLs.

Other capabilities of the new virtual appliance deployment solutions include gateway level security, covering enterprise-grade Sophos anti-malware protection in the Bloxx Secure Web Gateway, which keeps networks and users secure, as well as SSL filtering that mitigates the growing risks of HTTPs traffic.
